Bellingham Returns to Madrid for Injury Rehabilitation, Withdraws from England Squad
Jude Bellingham has withdrawn from the England national team's camp to continue his rehabilitation process in Madrid. This development comes following an announcement on the English team's official social media, stating, "An update from St. George's Park, as Jude Bellingham and Levi Colwill return to their clubs for rehabilitation. Get well soon, guys."
After a brief trip to England, Bellingham will not be participating in the upcoming training sessions and matches with the national team. Instead, he will be focusing on his recovery from the shoulder injury that has sidelined him from the last two matches with Real Madrid.
Bellingham initially traveled to England's St. George's Park training center to meet with his teammates. Under FIFA regulations, the England national team had the right to summon Bellingham for an evaluation by their medical team, despite his injury.
After the medical assessment, it was decided that the best course of action for Bellingham's health and recovery would be to return to his club. Consequently, he will be missing England's upcoming UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying matches against Malta and North Macedonia. These matches hold less significance for England, having already secured their place in the 2024 Euro Cup with a victory over Italy at Wembley in October.
Bellingham joins a list of players, including James Maddison, Callum Wilson, Lewis Dunk, and Levi Colwill, who have withdrawn from Gareth Southgate's squad due to various injuries.
The Real Madrid's specific plan for Bellingham's return includes intensive rehabilitation at their Valdebebas facility. The aim is for Bellingham to be fit for the match against Cádiz on November 26 and more crucially, for the Champions League group stage match against Napoli on November 29 at Bernabéu, where Real Madrid hopes to secure the top spot in their group.
