Carlo Ancelotti Fires Back at Javier Tebas: "No One Here Has Lost Their Mind"
Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid's head coach, has responded to LaLiga president Javier Tebas' remarks, in which Tebas claimed the club had "lost its mind" following its protest against refereeing decisions. Ancelotti was clear: "No one here has lost their mind; we are simply asking for explanations to clarify things and improve a system that no one is happy with."
Tebas Criticizes Real Madrid for Its Stance on Refereeing
After Real Madrid chose not to attend a meeting between LaLiga, the Technical Committee of Referees, and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Tebas stated that Florentino Pérez’s club is "against everything and wants to harm the competition."
However, Ancelotti, the club’s authorized voice in press conferences, responded firmly ahead of the Madrid derby against Atlético.
"All Clubs Are Unhappy with the Refereeing System"
The Italian coach also addressed clubs that criticized Real Madrid’s stance: "We are not happy with the refereeing system, but neither are the other clubs, who believe it favors Real Madrid. Now that we want to change it, everyone is against us. It surprises me, but I’d rather talk about football. Tebas should remain calm—no one here has lost their mind."
Request for VAR Audio
Ancelotti reiterated Real Madrid’s request for access to the VAR audio from the incident where Espanyol’s Carlos Romero fouled Kylian Mbappé and was only shown a yellow card.
"We haven’t received the audio yet. I don’t know why they won’t release it—they should explain. We are asking for something that has been made public in other cases. There’s nothing secret or malicious; we just want to know how the play was handled," the coach stated.
