Dani Carvajal Shares Details of His Recovery and When He Could Return to Play for Real Madrid
The recovery of Dani Carvajal is progressing after the serious injury he suffered in October 2024. The Real Madrid right-back, who has been sidelined since then, shared details about his rehabilitation and his desire to return to competition as soon as possible. During the third day of the European University School of Real Madrid, the Spanish defender spoke about the process he has gone through and the support he has received from both the club and the football world.
Dani Carvajal opens up about his recovery
On October 5, during a LaLiga match against Villarreal, Carvajal suffered one of the most severe injuries of his career. In the final moments of the game, a collision with Yeremy Pino caused his right leg to get trapped in an awkward position, creating a shocking scene at the Santiago Bernabéu. In visible pain and tears, the Spanish international had to leave the field, making it clear that the injury was serious.
Two days later, the worst fears were confirmed: an anterior cruciate ligament tear, an external collateral ligament injury, and a ruptured popliteal tendon. With this diagnosis, his season came to an early end. However, six months after surgery, the player remains positive and determined in his recovery process.
"It has been five and a half months since my surgery. I have already put my boots back on, and we are accumulating training sessions on the field to be ready as soon as possible, but with the guarantee of returning in the best condition," Carvajal stated.
During his time off the pitch, the full-back has remained active in the dressing room. In addition to focusing on his rehabilitation, he has been supporting his teammates, especially the younger players, by offering advice and motivation. "From the moment I got injured and entered the dressing room, I knew I would be the one to encourage my teammates. It was another challenge to face," said the player.
When will Dani Carvajal return?
Carvajal's goal is to be fit for the Club World Cup, which will take place from June 15 to July 13. His recovery has been progressing well, and his return will depend on how he evolves in the coming months. Despite the challenges, the support from Real Madrid and the football community has been crucial in keeping him motivated.
"These months have been tough, but I have felt very loved by everyone at the club. Also, the respect and affection from the football world have helped me take small steps forward when I needed them the most," he admitted.
With an unwavering mentality and the support of Madridismo, Dani Carvajal continues to work hard to return to the pitch. His comeback does not have an exact date yet, but the defender is determined to do everything possible to be available for the final stretch of the season.
