Hansi Flick Acknowledges Negative Impact on Barcelona After "Olmo" Case
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick admitted on Tuesday that the situation with players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, who still do not have clearance to play, will have a “negative impact” on the team. However, the German coach is confident that this challenge will help strengthen the unity of the group and make the team "more cohesive."
Challenges Due to the Absence of Olmo and Víctor
In a press conference before training at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where Barcelona is preparing for their Super Cup semifinal against Athletic Club, Flick acknowledged that the absence of both players “will affect” the team. “It’s not easy” for the squad that Olmo and Víctor can’t be registered, the coach explained, adding that all they can do is “wait.”
Barcelona has requested an interim measure from the Spanish Sports Council (CSD) to allow the registration of both players, who are considered "very important" for the team by Flick. The coach emphasized that Olmo is "an excellent player" and that his absence is strongly felt, but he believes this situation will give the team a chance to show their cohesion and strength as a group.
Flick’s Stance on Raphinha’s Situation
When asked about Raphinha’s comments regarding whether he would consider a move to Barcelona given the situation with Olmo and Víctor, Flick responded firmly. “I know the club, and I know exactly what’s going on. It’s a massive club, and the people around it are amazing. I’m definitely staying. It’s fantastic working with such people, and it’s easy,” he stated, reaffirming his commitment to the club.
Looking ahead to the Super Cup semifinal against Athletic, and after Barcelona’s dip in form in LaLiga during November and December, Flick assured that "the team is ready" and focused on winning the title, without worrying about the potential impact of a loss on the league or Europe. “Winning a title is great for the club, for the team, and for every player,” concluded the German coach.
