Hansi Flick Highlights Barcelona’s New “Flow”
Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, praised his team’s impressive defensive performance following their 4-0 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu. He emphasized the positive atmosphere within the squad, saying they’re playing with a “flow” as they kick off the season.
“When I first started, we aimed to build an environment where players could give their best. Now, the team’s vibe and mindset are outstanding. We can enjoy this win—I’ve given most players two days off—but we need to focus on the next game,” Flick shared in a press conference.
“We’ve got that ‘flow’ going. We’re playing well, scoring goals… It’s great having Pedri, De Jong, Dani Olmo… and Fermín has stepped up too. Not everyone’s at 100% yet, but as a coach, it’s ideal to have two quality players for each position,” he added.
Flick also praised Barcelona’s defense during a week that saw them net five goals against Sevilla, and four each against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. “We’re doing well, always striving to improve. Today wasn’t easy, but we defended excellently. We’re sticking to our style and need to keep at it,” Flick noted. “It was important to show our game plan, pressing the opponent more. In the second half, we controlled possession better, which made a big difference,” he concluded.
