Real Madrid Auctions Off Locker Room Items of Club Legends
Real Madrid, partnering with British auction house Sotheby's, will auction off locker room items from the Santiago Bernabéu, including those once used by icons like Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, and David Beckham.
Each individual locker setup, featuring the player's photo, name, and locker itself, will start bidding at £10,000 (€13,000). These items are as they were during the 2022 season, complete with a certificate of authenticity and a list of players who used them. Throughout the span of these locker room items, the Santiago Bernabéu hosted 544 games, and the team secured 20 titles, including six Champions League and six La Liga titles.
Special items, like the lockers of Zidane, Sergio Ramos, and Luis Figo, will be sold separately. The auction will also feature a three-meter-wide mosaic of the Santiago Bernabéu and the stadium's metal doors, priced at £12,000 and £8,000, respectively.
A portion of the auction proceeds will support the Real Madrid Foundation, which focuses on children's education and social inclusion for vulnerable groups. “After the historic sale of Kobe Bryant’s locker at the Staples Center for $2.9 million last summer, we’re thrilled to offer these legendary items that give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the Santiago Bernabéu,” said Brendan Hawkes, Sotheby's sports memorabilia specialist, in a statement. The auction starts on November 12 and will run for two weeks. Additionally, the items will be on display at Sotheby's gallery in central London from November 20 to 26.
