Real Madrid Hit Panic Mode as Bellingham Suffer Ankle Injury
English midfielder Jude Bellingham, who had to leave the match against Girona at 57 minutes after scoring a brace, is dealing with a sprained left ankle and is uncertain for Real Madrid's Champions League round of 16 first leg match against Leipzig in Germany.
"Bellingham has a sprained ankle. They're going to assess him tomorrow, hopefully he can make it by Tuesday," revealed Ancelotti in his press conference at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Two awkward moves with his left foot caused Bellingham's injury, who will undergo medical tests on Sunday at the Valdebebas sports city to determine the exact extent of his injury.
At the moment, the English midfielder is doubtful for the match against Leipzig, in which Ancelotti won't have Thibaut Courtois, Èder Militao, David Alaba, and Antonio Rüdiger due to injury. He expects to recover Nacho Fernández, who was absent against Girona due to a muscular overload.
"I hope he can play but there have been games where Bellingham hasn't played and other players like Brahim and Joselu have contributed a lot. I'm not going to be more worried than today, we've won with four injured center-backs. That has increased the group's commitment and attitude."
