Real Madrid Resumes Training with The Return of Some International Players
Real Madrid returned to training this Tuesday at the Valdebebas Sports City, with coach Carlo Ancelotti beginning to recover key players after the FIFA break. Although most internationals are still with their national teams, three players have already rejoined the squad: Raúl Asencio, Andriy Lunin, and Thibaut Courtois.
The Belgian goalkeeper, who has been dealing with muscle overload, carried out specific exercises as part of his recovery process. However, according to club sources, there is no concern regarding his availability for the team's next match against Leganés.
Ancelotti begins to recover key players
With only five first-team players available—Lucas Vázquez, Jesús Vallejo, Fran García, Asencio, and Lunin—the session included several academy players. Additionally, Fran García is now fully recovered from the muscle strain in his left thigh that he suffered in the match against Villarreal.
Meanwhile, injured players continue their respective recovery processes. Ferland Mendy is working hard with the goal of being fit for the Champions League quarter-final clash against Arsenal, with the possibility of returning for the first leg on April 8. On the other hand, Dani Ceballos has started individual work on the pitch and is aiming to return in the last weeks of April, depending on his progress after the injury he suffered in February.
Long-term absentees Éder Militão and Dani Carvajal remain in their rehabilitation process, with no clear return date yet.
International players gradually return
Coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to welcome back more international players in the coming days. Kylian Mbappé, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Luka Modrić, Antonio Rüdiger, Arda Güler, and David Alaba have already completed their commitments with their national teams and are expected to rejoin training soon.
However, some South American and African players still have matches left before returning to Madrid. Vinícius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, and Endrick will play a crucial game with Brazil against Argentina, while Fede Valverde will feature for Uruguay against Bolivia in the early hours of Wednesday. Meanwhile, Brahim Díaz will wrap up his international duty with Morocco, who face Tanzania in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
With the squad returning in stages, Real Madrid hopes to have most of its key players back by the end of the week, allowing for full preparation ahead of the match against Leganés and the crucial final stretch of the season.
