Tebas accuses Real Madrid of trying to damage LaLiga
LaLiga president Javier Tebas strongly criticized Real Madrid, claiming that the club "is against everything and wants to harm the competition." His statements came after the Madrid-based team refused to attend a crucial meeting between LaLiga, the Referees' Technical Committee, and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), which was attended by all professional clubs except Madrid.
"They have built a victimhood narrative, and the final straw was the statement they released the other day. They have been pushing this discourse for a long time, but it's not true. What they are trying to do is influence the competition in a way that cannot be allowed," Tebas said, reiterating his frustration with the club's stance.
Additionally, the LaLiga president announced that legal action will be taken against Real Madrid. "We are going to file a complaint. We are analyzing whether it will be against the club, the person who signed the letter, or the board of directors. There are falsehoods or half-truths in their statement, and this cannot go unchallenged," he assured.
Criticism over the Negreira case
Another key point Javier Tebas addressed was Real Madrid's stance on the Negreira case, in which FC Barcelona is under investigation. According to Tebas, the Madrid club has exaggerated the situation to attack the competition.
"They have made a poor analysis of the Negreira case. It has been established that there could have been influence on promotions and relegations, but there is no evidence of payments to referees. They have built an exaggerated and unfounded narrative," he explained.
For Tebas, Real Madrid's attitude is part of a strategy to discredit the league. "They want to destabilize and harm LaLiga. They have no other choice but to resort to these kinds of maneuvers. They have lost their minds," he concluded.
