Tebas Says Dani Olmo Should Not Finish the Season With Barcelona
The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, stated on Monday that "Dani Olmo should not finish the season with Barcelona" and criticized Real Madrid, calling it a "crybaby club" that "has no right to claim the competition is rigged or to disrespect LaLiga and all its teams."
The Dani Olmo Case
"He should not finish the season with Barcelona. We submitted a very clear document. On January 3, we requested certain guarantees because the club’s financial situation did not seem very stable. Then the money arrived, the case went to the CSD, and within 24 hours, they ruled, granting a precautionary measure and raising some doubts. Olmo signed his agreements knowing that he might not be registered in December. He was aware that this could happen to him," Tebas explained at a Europa Press event.
Criticism of Real Madrid's Referee Complaints
Tebas said he understands that teams issue statements when they feel affected by refereeing decisions, but he criticized the way Real Madrid does it, using its official channel, Real Madrid TV, to pressure referees.
"Other teams don’t do that. We have to make distinctions. What Atlético de Madrid did had an ironic tone, and I don’t see it as excessive. What I do find excessive is what has been happening with Real Madrid TV over the past year or year and a half. Real Madrid is a team with such superiority that it should not be crying over a single play," he said.
The LaLiga president was referring to a foul suffered by Kylian Mbappé in a match against Espanyol, an action in which, according to Real Madrid, Carlos Romero should have been sent off.
