The Millions Barcelona Would Make From Trincao's Sale
FC Barcelona is facing the possibility of receiving an unexpected income this January through the sale of Francisco Trincao. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese winger is negotiating his move to AC Milan, and the deal seems to be progressing well. The player's sale is estimated to reach €25 million, with Barcelona receiving 50% of that amount, meaning €12.5 million.
Milan, which recently appointed Sergio Conceiçao as head coach, has reportedly opted for Trincao to strengthen one of their attacking wings. The Portuguese coach played a key role in the decision, as Milan was in the market for a high-quality winger. Although the Italian club considered other options, such as Dani Olmo and Marcus Rashford, they ultimately chose the former Barcelona player due to his impressive season with Sporting Lisbon, where he has recorded seven goals and 11 assists.
Sporting Lisbon, which currently holds Trincao, had previously negotiated with Barcelona a loan deal that included a purchase option for €7.5 million, plus the €3 million paid for the loan. This means Barcelona could recover almost the entire initial investment in the player and could earn a total benefit of around €23 million through the definitive sale.
This unexpected income could be a significant financial boost for Barcelona, allowing them to use these funds to reinforce their squad in this winter transfer window. With several European clubs, such as Manchester City and Bayern Munich, keeping an eye on Trincao, the Catalan club has always closely followed his development, and now they could finalize a sale that, while initially seen with skepticism, will ultimately benefit the club's finances.
This move presents a key opportunity for Barcelona to adjust their transfer strategy and bring in new signings in a January market that promises to be crucial for the rest of the season.
