Vinícius Wants to Make Kylian Mbappé Shine
After overcoming the disappointment of not winning the Ballon d’Or, the Brazilian international is once again fully focused on the pitch, aiming to help Real Madrid win and support Kylian Mbappé in shining.
The disappointment matched the high expectations generated by his performances last season. Late last year, Vinicius Jr dreamed of joining the exclusive list of Brazilians who have won the Ballon d’Or, alongside Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, and Kaká. However, that dream faded when the prestigious individual award was given to Rodri, praised for his role at Manchester City and the Spanish national team, recognized for his consistency at the highest level and his personality. This decision divided the football world and frustrated the Real Madrid star.
Months have passed, and that frustration has turned into motivation to continue improving and prove he’s worthy of the highest individual honor. Last night, he once again showcased his value by playing a key role in the Merengues’ commanding victory over RB Salzburg, scoring a late brace (5-1). For him, the collective effort takes precedence: "My biggest goal is to help my team, to score goals, provide assists, and be at my best because if I’m like that, I can help all my teammates and take Madrid to the top, which is always my biggest goal. Individual awards are, of course, important, but... you can’t talk too much about them. It’s not the voting that counts. People expected it, but we have to keep moving forward," he explained to TNT Brasil after the match.
Supporting Mbappé
Although there is still some lingering disappointment, Vinicius Jr is fully focused on his on-field performance and how to work best with his attacking teammates, including Rodrygo, Jude Bellingham, and Kylian Mbappé. The Brazilian seems to have a great relationship with the French international and is determined to help him shine as much as possible. "We are very happy with Kylian. The beginnings are always complicated, but he has adapted well, and Kylian is such a great player that even during this adaptation, he has scored many goals. Rodrygo and I will do everything possible to make him the top scorer in all competitions because that’s why he came here," the Brazilian winger said with great altruism.
At 24 years old, Vinicius Jr shows his determination to leave the past behind and focus on the present, ignoring rumors of Saudi Arabia’s interest, with reports suggesting they are prepared to make a substantial offer to sign him.
