Xavi: "Laporta Has Always Been Straightforward, and I'm Sure he Will When We Weet"
The Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernández, stated that the club's president, Joan Laporta, "has always been straightforward" and that when they talk to finalize their future, "they will surely do so".
"We have to talk somehow, but I am calm. I was with Deco (sports director) and Rafa Yuste (vice president) the other day, and they reassure me," said the Catalan coach in statements to the press after the 3-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano and regarding the reports questioning his continuity at the helm of the team.
Regarding consolidating the second place, Xavi pointed out that this "was a minimum goal", but that, thanks to having achieved it, the team "will play the Spanish Super Cup next year".
"This season we have improved in our play. Last year we didn't find it many times, but we competed better. We didn't compete well in key moments to reach the Champions League semifinals or in the Copa del Rey match at San Mamés," said the Barcelona coach, who will close the season without titles.
Asked about what has changed between this Liga and the previous one, in which the Catalan team won the trophy, the Egarense replied that the difference "is Real Madrid".
"(Madrid) has achieved a historic score. They are one of the best teams in the world, they are in the Champions League final. Even though they are our rivals and we don't like that, they are there," concluded Xavi.
