Nantes Upset Vieira's Strasbourg and Get Close to European Spots
Nantes returned to the path of victory in Ligue 1 after convincingly defeating Strasbourg (1-2), who suffered their second consecutive defeat, hindering their attempt to secure a spot in European positions.
It was Marcus Coco who opened the scoring five minutes into the second half. He capitalized on a rebound inside the box to break the deadlock, and later, in a similar play, Samuel Moutoussamy sealed the match. Although Moise Sahi Dion reduced the deficit in injury time, it was too late for Patrick Vieira's team.
Nantes moved ahead of Strasbourg in the standings and is in eighth place, just one point behind Stade Rennais, who are sixth with one game in hand and the team currently marking the border for participation in a continental competition if the season were to end now.
