PSG Defeat Toulouse to Stay Unstoppable in Ligue 1
With the decisive Champions League clash against Bayern Munich looming next Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain resolved their scoring struggles against Toulouse, dominating the match and creating enough chances to have sealed it much earlier. However, they relied at times on goalkeeper Safonov and their opponent’s lack of precision until late goals from Lucas Beraldo and Vitinha secured the 3-0 victory.
This win marks PSG's tenth triumph in twelve Ligue 1 matches. Despite leading the table with a comfortable six-point advantage over Monaco, who earlier defeated Brest 3-2, Luis Enrique Martínez’s side often falters offensively, leaving them vulnerable to any team capable of bypassing their press.
PSG’s challenge lies in converting opportunities. Although they generated several chances—not as many as against Atlético Madrid—the reigning Ligue 1 champions lacked the clinical edge to dominate as expected. Friday’s match remained tense until the 85th minute when Lucas Beraldo scored the calming 2-0 goal, with Vitinha sealing the 3-0 in added time.
Joao Neves had given PSG the lead in the 35th minute with a stunning volley off Hakimi’s cross, a moment of brilliance in the first half. However, a goal by Warren Zaire-Emery was disallowed for offside after a VAR review.
Toulouse had their moments, threatening PSG with three clear chances to equalize. Safonov, chosen to start in goal, made crucial double saves with the score still at 1-0. Beraldo’s late goal and Vitinha’s stoppage-time strike finally put the game beyond doubt.
