VIDEO | Messi's Amazing Goal Fails to Rescue Inter Miami
The Argentine star scored a great goal against Atlanta United in the MLS, but it couldn't prevent Inter Miami's first defeat after ten consecutive wins.
Inter Miami suffered their first defeat in ten games on Wednesday despite a stunning goal from Leo Messi.
Messi returned to the starting lineup for the 1-3 loss to Atlanta after sitting out the previous Saturday's visit to Vancouver to conserve energy for this week's matches against Atlanta and Saint Louis on Saturday.
The Argentine, who will later join Argentina's pre-Copa America camp, did not board the seven-hour flight to Vancouver over the weekend. This trip is the longest anticipated by the MLS, from South Florida to the west coast of Canada.
Messi competed alongside Uruguayan Luis Suárez and Spaniard Sergio Busquets, scoring a fantastic goal from outside the box. It was his eleventh of the season, leaving him two behind the top scorers, Colombian Christian 'Chicho' Arango and Belgian Christian Benteke.
Despite the loss, Inter Miami capitalized on their main pursuer's setback, as Cincinnati had won seven straight before falling to Nashville on Wednesday.
