Guardiola: "Eight Years Of Success And 40 Bad Days"
Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, reflected on the crisis his team is facing, having won one of their last eleven matches, and said that they have had "eight years of success and now it's 40-45 days of poor results."
The Spanish coach is going through his toughest moment as a manager, having won just one of his last eleven games and after losing the Manchester derby last Sunday despite leading in the 87th minute.
"I live with the good moments and I live with the bad ones. I've had bad moments before in my coaching career, and we've always been able to turn things around. Now it's taking longer," Guardiola said this Friday in a press conference.
"I'm learning from this. I've had forty days of poor results, that's the truth, especially when you compare it to the last eight years. It's been eight years of success and incredible results, and now we have 40-45 bad days."
Guardiola stated that if you lose six matches, you have to bounce back seven and that he feels fine since he is a normal person with feelings, like everyone else.
"When things are going well, we are better, and when they're not, we are more focused on what we need to do," added the Spaniard, who will face Aston Villa, managed by Unai Emery, this weekend.
The Santpedor (Barcelona) coach also confirmed that he does not expect any departures in the upcoming winter transfer window, but did not comment on possible arrivals in January.
"What I want is for my players to come back from injury. My thinking is that the squad is truly good. We lost two important players for a long time, but what I want is to have my players back, and after January and the summer, we'll see what to do and what is best for the team."
