Oasis Snubs the Champions League After City’s Exit Against Madrid
Liam Gallagher, former Oasis frontman and die-hard Manchester City fan, stirred up controversy on social media following his team’s elimination at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League. The musician didn’t hold back, bluntly dismissing the tournament as “for idiots.”
Gallagher, who is very active on X (formerly Twitter), responded to a post listing City’s remaining objectives this season—including the FA Cup, securing Champions League qualification, and the FIFA Club World Cup. His response? “The Champions League is for idiots.” He also claimed in another post that Real Madrid was simply “lucky” over both legs of the tie.
Skipping the 2023 Final in Istanbul
Ironically, Liam Gallagher was not in attendance when Manchester City lifted their first-ever Champions League trophy in Istanbul 2023. Instead, he chose to watch the final with friends in London. However, both he and his brother, Noel Gallagher, were present for the 2021 final in Porto, where City suffered heartbreak against Chelsea.
Gallagher’s comments have sparked heated debate among football fans, especially between supporters of Manchester City and Real Madrid, two clubs that have delivered some of the most thrilling Champions League battles in recent years.
