Pochettino Asks Chelsea for Patience to Avoid Dismissal
The Argentine coach was deeply affected after the defeat in the Carabao Cup final and hopes that the Blues' management will continue to believe in the project.
Mauricio Pochettino faces his lowest moments with Chelsea. The Argentine coach had a golden opportunity to change the dynamics in the Carabao Cup final, but the defeat against Liverpool left him deeply affected.
"I can't lie to you. When I walked up the stairs at Wembley, I was very worried, on the verge of tears," the coach said at a press conference.
Aware that the management of the London club is not known for enduring much when things go wrong and often makes drastic changes to its projects, the Argentine coach asked for time.
"The problem is that we need time and patience to win matches. And we need the owner's patience to give us the opportunity to move forward. After eight months, we've all built a very good bond. When players really believe in the way we're working, it takes time," Pochettino argued.
After finishing as runners-up in the Carabao Cup, Pochettino's fate rests on Wednesday's FA Cup round of 16 match against Leeds. Another defeat could leave the coach on the brink of dismissal.
