Rodri Returns to Training and Hopes for a Comeback This Season
Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Hernández, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus injury in September, has resumed individual training, according to his team, Manchester City, via social media.
Hope for an Early Comeback
The news raises hopes that Rodri, the latest Ballon d’Or winner, could return to action before the end of the season, despite initial expectations ruling him out until the next campaign. In a video shared by City, the player can be seen training alone with the ball on the club’s training ground, accompanied by the phrase "On the road to recovery."
Pep Guardiola’s team has endured one of its toughest seasons in recent years. Knocked out by Real Madrid in the Champions League and struggling in the Premier League title race, the Citizens have particularly felt the absence of their star midfielder.
City Had Already Bet on His Return
Despite the severity of the injury, Manchester City showed faith in Rodri's recovery by including him in their squad for the final phase of the Champions League in early February. However, following their elimination against Real Madrid, the Spaniard will no longer be able to participate in the European tournament this season.
During the winter transfer window, the club signed Spanish midfielder Nico González as reinforcement for the midfield, but Rodri's return could be crucial to finishing the season strong and preparing for the club’s immediate future.
