Ruben Amorim Remains Enigmatic About Marcus Rashford's Future
As Marcus Rashford appears closer than ever to leaving Manchester United, Ruben Amorim addressed the situation of his player during a press conference.
Rashford, under contract until June 2028 with the Red Devils, has been relegated to the bench since Ruben Amorim took over as head coach. The uncomfortable and delicate situation of the English international has made it clear that he doesn't plan to stay much longer at the club. In this context, several top European clubs have already started making moves to try and sign the 27-year-old forward during this winter transfer window. Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Galatasaray, AC Milan, Como, and some clubs from Saudi Arabia are among the teams linked with Rashford in recent weeks.
Although there are no certainties yet about how this case will unfold, which has captured the attention of England and its tabloids, one thing is clear: Manchester United is actively seeking an exit for the forward. On Sunday, following their FA Cup victory over Arsenal in a penalty shootout (1-1, 5-3 on penalties), Ruben Amorim was questioned about Rashford's future during a press conference. However, the Portuguese manager chose not to fuel further rumors or speculations about potential transfers. "I don't know. We'll see what happens. He's a Manchester United player, so we'll see," responded Amorim when asked if Rashford had played his last match with the club on December 12 against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.
"I have to make decisions"
"He has to work, represent his club, and he loves his club, but I have to make decisions. I've already talked before about having to make decisions. Let's move forward, wait for the next game, and once again, I'll have to make a selection," added Amorim, who also refrained from confirming whether Rashford would be part of the squad for Thursday's game against Southampton, corresponding to another round of the Premier League.
Deemed "undesirable" and once again absent against Arsenal on Sunday, the Manchester-born forward seems to have little chance of stepping onto the Old Trafford pitch in the coming days. While Ruben Amorim avoids confirming his departure, everything points to Rashford's exit being inevitable.
