Lewis-Skelly has three-match ban overturned after Arsenal appeal
Arsenal have succeeded in their appeal to overturn a three-match suspension for their 18-year-old defender Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly's three-match suspension has been overturned by the Football Association after the club launched an appeal.
The Gunners had appealed against the decision to dismiss the player earlier on Tuesday.
"An independent Regulatory Commission has upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Lewis-Skelly and removed his three-match suspension," the FA said in a statement.
The 18-year-old had received a controversial red card in Arsenal's Premier League clash against Wolves on Saturday.
The defender caught Wolves' Matt Doherty above the ankle with a late challenge as the hosts looked to launch a quick break in the closing stages of the first half.
Riccardo Calafiori scored the only goal of the game to give Mikel Arteta's side a 1-0 win after Wolves were also reduced to 10 men following a second yellow card to midfielder Joao Gomes.
"I am absolutely fuming. But I will leave it with you, it is that obvious that I don't think my words are going to help," Arteta told Sky Sports after the game.
"It's so obvious that maybe we don't even need to [put in an appeal]," he added.
If the three-match suspension had stood, Lewis-Skelly would have missed Arsenal's Premier League meeting with Manchester City on Sunday, the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Newcastle United and a league game against Leicester City on 15 February.
Lewis-Skelly has appeared in seven of Arsenal's last eight Premier League matches.
