Lucas Vázquez Sees Real Madrid in a Rough Patch
Real Madrid’s Lucas Vázquez reflected on his team’s recent 1-3 loss to Milan, their second consecutive defeat after a heavy 0-4 loss in El Clásico against Barcelona. He acknowledged that they're “in a moment where opponents are punishing us a lot defensively.”
“It was a tough game; they got ahead, we equalized quickly, and just before halftime, they scored again when we were controlling the game better. We were trying to turn it around, and then they scored the third on a counter. Right now, opponents are really making us pay. We’ll keep working so it doesn’t happen again,” he said to Movistar+.
The defensive struggles have led to nine goals conceded in their last three games. “It’s a terrible number. Defending and attacking is something we do together as a team. We need to focus on that. We’ll get through this together, lift our heads, and keep working because it’s a long season, and Madrid will fight to the end,” Vázquez added.
He was also asked about the fans’ whistles directed at Aurelien Tchouaméni and the team after the Milan loss. “We owe it to the fans; the Bernabéu crowd is sovereign. It’s on us to work hard and turn this around. We’re going to fight until the end,” he concluded.
