Luis Enrique Sends a Strong Message Ahead of the Champions League Final
The UEFA Champions League will be decided this weekend, and Paris Saint-Germain stands on the verge of making history. The Parisian side will look to secure back-to-back European titles, an achievement that would mark a turning point for the club. Ahead of the highly anticipated final in Budapest, Luis Enrique addressed the media and made it clear that, despite arriving as defending champions, his team does not see itself as the overwhelming favorite.
The Difficult Road for PSG to Reach Another European Final
The Spanish manager highlighted the challenging path that PSG had to overcome in order to return to the biggest match in European football.
“We are the champions, and nobody has had a tougher schedule than us. That has helped us grow tremendously. Tomorrow, may the better footballing side win,” he stated.
Luis Enrique also expressed satisfaction with his team’s performances throughout the competition. The coach explained that PSG has maintained a clear football identity during the entire Champions League campaign, and he believes that consistency has brought them back into contention for the title.
“I think I have enjoyed almost every match we’ve played in this Champions League. In most of them, we controlled the game, and reaching another final is extremely difficult for any club. For us, this is already historic,” he commented.

Praise for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal
The Asturian coach also spoke about Arsenal, PSG’s opponent in the final, and acknowledged the impressive work done by Mikel Arteta with the English side.
“I’m not surprised by Arsenal. They deserved to win the Premier League, and if I’m not mistaken, this is already Arteta’s seventh year at the club. You can clearly see the team he has built,” he explained.
The Pressure of Managing Paris Saint-Germain
Luis Enrique fully understands the pressure that comes with leading a European powerhouse like PSG. The French club has spent years obsessed with conquering Europe, with every season revolving around the Champions League. However, the manager insisted that the squad is mentally prepared for the challenge ahead.
“There is no greater motivation than playing in and winning a final. Tomorrow we will see who has been the better side. We are focused on delivering our best version. That was the club’s objective and mine from the moment we arrived. Maybe we didn’t expect to achieve it this quickly, but I also believe we deserved more last year,” he said.
PSG lost only two matches during this edition of the Champions League, cementing itself as one of the most dominant teams in Europe. Now, the defending champions have the opportunity to complete a historic season and become the first French club to win two European Cups.
