Kylian Mbappé Struggles with Vision Issues
Mbappé has tried different masks, but despite adapting, he continues to have issues that bother him during matches.
Kylian Mbappé broke his nose during France's debut in the Euro 2024 and was fortunate to continue in the tournament, albeit wearing a mask to which he has not yet fully adapted.
The Frenchman tried different models in search of greater comfort but is struggling to find it.
Specifically, there are two main discomforts affecting Kylian during matches: one is related to the sweat caused by wearing the mask, which can even get into his eyes.
"Kylian can wipe off sweat from time to time, but he is adapting to it," Deschamps said in a press conference.
The other discomfort relates to his vision. France's coach explained what Mbappé conveyed to him: "Kylian mentioned that the mask makes everything look 3D, which can cause disorientation."
Deschamps clarified that "direct vision is clear," but "peripheral vision" is "somewhat affected" by wearing the mask.
However, the French coach warned that Kylian Mbappé "will have to get used to wearing it" because he will need to wear it "for several weeks or even months" to play safely.
