Novak Djokovic Breaks Historic Grand Slam Match Record
Serbian Novak Djokovic, the seventh seed in this year’s Australian Open, has become the player with the most singles matches played in Grand Slam tournaments in tennis history.
The 24-time major champion, with ten of those titles coming in Melbourne, hit an incredible milestone of 430 matches played after facing Portugal’s Jaime Faria in the second round of the 2025 Australian Open.
A record that rewrites tennis history
Djokovic, who has played 105 matches at the Australian Open, 112 at Roland Garros, 109 at Wimbledon, and 104 at the US Open, broke the previous record held by Swiss legend Roger Federer, who played 429 matches before retiring. Meanwhile, American great Serena Williams totaled 423 matches, and Spain’s Rafael Nadal retired with 385.
