Boos for Ange's Tottenham after draw with Fulham
Fulham earned a deserved point in their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur that saw Tom Cairney net the visitors’ equaliser before being sent off.
Brennan Johnson smashed home his sixth Premier League goal of the season in the 54th minute to hand the hosts the lead after being picked out by Timo Werner at the far post.
But Fulham dragged itself level through substitute Cairney, who curled a stunning left-footed effort beyond the grasp of Fraser Forster 13 minutes later.
However, the visitors finished the game a man down after goalscorer Cairney was sent off for a foul on Dejan Kulusevski, which was upgraded from a yellow card to a red by the referee after a VAR review.
The result moved Tottenham up to seventh in the Premier League table, while Fulham is 10th, but there were a few boos for Ange Postecoglou's men as they left the field.
But the Australian believes his side was worthy of a point, despite being far from its best.
"A point was probably fair. It was a tight game. Neither team opened up too much. It was hard to dominate for either side," Postecoglou said.
"It was probably always going to be decided by some half-chances, and we ended up getting the draw.
"For the most part, we handled it OK, we should have taken those to put some pressure on them. We looked like we were getting on top and then they scored.
"They didn't create loads. We are pretty thin on the ground, so I can't ask too much more of them at the moment."
Marco Silva, however, believed his Fulham side was the only worthy winner at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
"I think that everybody should recognise that the team who deserved to win this afternoon was ourselves. We deserved to win. We played our way with our identity on the pitch," he said.
"Myself, the players and the fans should be proud of it. We should have been leading the score with the chances we had. We have to be realistic that Tottenham had chances as well."
