How Lindsey Vonn’s downhill crash unfolded

Vonn had been on the course for just 13 seconds and was exiting the second turn when she lost control and slammed into one of the plastic course markers lining the track.

During the fall, the skier struck the ground with one leg, flipped over, and then appeared to take a heavy blow to her shoulder before coming to a stop on the slope.

The crash came just days after Vonn had suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee.

Lindsey Vonn’s condition following the accident

There has been no official medical update regarding Vonn’s condition. It was confirmed, however, that she was transported by helicopter to a hospital for further evaluation.

“The good news is that the doctor who operated on her knee was here on the mountain and was able to go with her in the helicopter. They are currently in Cortina; the helicopter landed, but she will not go to a local hospital because it cannot provide what she needs. Most likely, she will be transferred to Innsbruck,” broadcasters said during the event coverage.
