Hansi Flick Doesn't Like Comparisons Between Lamine Yamal, Messi, And Maradona
FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has made his stance clear regarding comparisons between Lamine Yamal and historical figures like Lionel Messi or Diego Maradona. Despite the young winger’s undeniable talent, the German coach prefers to steer clear of such analogies.
"I’m not a fan of that. Lamine is a genius. What he did today in some plays is unbelievable. I’m very happy that he plays for Barça," Flick said after the victory against Alavés.
At just 17 years old, Yamal once again stood out in the match, completing 11 of the 21 dribbles he attempted— a number not seen at Barcelona since Messi attempted 20 dribbles against Mallorca during the 2005-06 season.
Flick also praised the youngster’s maturity when facing opponents who try to neutralize him with aggressive marking. "For his age, he’s doing great in every match. It’s not easy, because the opponents are strong, defend well, and attack him aggressively, but he keeps shining. I love it," the coach concluded.
With performances like his latest one, Yamal continues to establish himself as a key player for Barcelona, even though Flick prefers to let his talent shine without the pressure of comparisons to the greatest players in history.
