Lamine Yamal and Rodri lead the list of nominees for the Best XI of the Year
Lamine Yamal and Rodri Hernández, along with other Spanish internationals, stand out among the finalists for the FIFPRO World 11 Men’s 2024, which will be revealed on December 9. The young talent from Barcelona and the Manchester City midfielder, who recently won the Ballon d’Or, represent a golden generation of Spanish football.
The international players' union, FIFPRO, unveiled the 26-player shortlist, which also features stars like Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Luka Modric (Real Madrid), and Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid). Representing Argentina, Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) and goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa) make the cut again, as do Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nassr), Erling Haaland (Manchester City), and Harry Kane (Bayern Munich).
The only award decided by the players
This unique award, voted on exclusively by 28,322 professional footballers, honors the best in each position. The final lineup includes one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards. A tenth spot goes to the next most-voted outfield player, following the same criteria for the women’s category.
