Messi Achieves This Once Again in MLS with Inter Miami
Leo Messi, the star forward of Inter Miami, was named MLS Player of the Week on Monday, marking the sixth time he has earned this award during the 2024 season. This recognition comes after Messi's stunning hat-trick in the last 30 minutes of the game against the New England Revolution last Saturday.
In just 1,485 minutes on the field, Messi has accumulated 20 goals and 16 assists for Inter Miami, who finished the regular season with a record-breaking 74 points, the highest in the history of the league.
Messi, who also provided an assist against the Revolution, had previously been named Player of the Week in matchdays 9, 11, 12, 32, and 36.
Only Mexican Carlos Vela (2019) and Jason Kreis (1999) have won this award six times in a single season. Both went on to claim the MVP title for that year.
Inter Miami, winners of the Supporters' Shield as the top club in the regular season, will begin their playoff journey this Friday against either Atlanta United or Montreal.
