The Player Who Could Surpass Lamine Yamal as the Youngest to Debut in the Champions League
Francesco Camarda, a player from AC Milan’s second team, who became the youngest player to feature in a Serie A match in November 2023 at just 15 years old, is set to be included in the squad for their Champions League clash against Belgian side Club Brugge on Matchday 3.
"There was a request from the club, and obviously, we must accommodate the needs of the first team," revealed Daniele Bonera, Camarda's coach.
With the injury to English striker Tammy Abraham and the decision not to register Serbian Luka Jovic in Milan's UEFA squad, Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca is left with Spanish striker Álvaro Morata as the only recognized forward.
Camarda, who will be 16 years and 226 days old at the time of the match, could be called upon for minutes at San Siro, a historic stadium that already greeted him with loud applause during his first-team debut.
Though his age won’t allow him to break the record as the youngest ever Champions League debutant, Camarda could still make history by scoring. If he finds the net, he would become the youngest player to score in the Champions League, breaking the record set by Spain’s Ansu Fati, who scored in San Siro for Barcelona in 2019 against Inter Milan at 17 years and 40 days.
