No Real Madrid Players In Spain's Squad Three Years Later!
Luis de la Fuente has announced Spain’s roster for the November international break, and for the first time in three years, there are no Real Madrid players among the 26 selected. The absence of Madrid players is largely due to Dani Carvajal’s injury, which has sidelined him for the season, as well as the departures of players like Joselu and Nacho during the recent summer transfer window. This leaves De la Fuente with only a few remaining Real Madrid options, such as Jesús Vallejo, Fran García, Lucas Vázquez, or Dani Ceballos, who could still be considered for future call-ups.
This situation recalls a similar one in October 2021, when Spain played the Final Four of the UEFA Nations League without any Real Madrid players, under Luis Enrique’s leadership. On that occasion, the team defeated Italy in the semifinals but lost the final to France. Luis Enrique also left Real Madrid players out of the squad for the 2021 European Championship, in which Spain reached the semifinals, a decision that was widely discussed at the time.
The Spanish team now prepares for the upcoming Nations League matches, aiming to secure the top spot in their group and earn home advantage in the quarterfinals, scheduled for March 2025. In this November break, Spain will face Denmark on Friday, the 15th, and Switzerland on Monday, the 18th—crucial games for solidifying their position at the top of the group stage.
