Could Yuri Alberto Be Leaving Corinthians?
Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto is at the center of transfer speculation as multiple European clubs reportedly eye the 23-year-old.
Yuri Alberto has gained further momentum as a Corinthians striker in recent matches. On February 27, 2025, he scored the winning goal that pushed Corinthians through to the next phase of the Copa Libertadores.
With the summer window approaching, rumors suggest that clubs from the Premier League and Serie A are closely monitoring his situation.
Interest from Europe
Over the past few months, several clubs have been linked to the Brazilian talent, with sources reporting that West Ham United, Inter Milan, Napoli, and Atalanta are among the frontrunners.
Alberto, who joined Corinthians permanently in 2023 after a loan spell, has continued to impress with his performances in the Brasileirão and Copa Libertadores.
Inter Milan expressed interest in the striker back in 2022 before he made his permanent move to Corinthians. However, reports arose last week that Inter Milan was still keeping an eye on Alberto and offered €25 million for him.
Augusto Melo, president of Corinthians, confirmed in a podcast that they received bids of €25 million but that they “didn’t even consider it.”
He clarified that Corinthians would receive 50% of the transfer fee, while Alberto’s former club, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg, would receive the other half.
“If I am not mistaken, the release clause is 500 million Brazilian Reais. If someone offers us 500 million, then we will sell,” Melo said, confirming Alberto’s current value of around €82 million.
Alberto’s Response to the Transfer Rumors
Yuri Alberto struggled in the 2023/2024 season as he received criticism from fans for his performance and was called ‘stupid’ by former Corinthians coach Mano Menezes.
Alberto spoke in multiple interviews about the effect of the mass criticism on his mental health last year, seeking a therapist to help him deal with it.
As he regained his momentum in the team recently and built his performance back up, Corinthians fans worried about his wish to leave.
However, after he scored the winning goal in the Copa Libertadores match on February 26, 2025, against Universidad Central, Alberto clarified his intentions in a post-match press conference.
“Those wishes that I had last year of wanting to leave are over. I am very happy here,” he said. “If it has to happen, it will happen in the way that I said—only if it is positive for the club.”
As the Brazilian club prepares for the next round of the Copa Libertadores, fans anxiously await the summer transfer window to see whether or not Yuri Alberto, whose contract with Corinthians expires in December 2027, will remain with the club.
