The tests Brahim Díaz underwent at Ciudad Real Madrid confirmed a muscle injury in his right abductor, which will sideline him for nearly three months.
Real Madrid confirmed the bad news in a medical report: "After the tests carried out today on our player Brahim Díaz by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a long abductor injury in his right leg. Pending evolution," the statement read.
Brahim felt the muscle injury during the first half of the match against Real Sociedad, where he was enjoying his second start of the season, in a play where he connected with Kylian Mbappé. He tried to continue playing for several minutes but had to be substituted by Brazilian Rodrygo Goes at the 25-minute mark.
The MRI scan he underwent confirmed the worst-case scenario, showing a more severe tear. Brahim had recently played two matches with Morocco, adding to the growing list of injuries that have hit Real Madrid at the start of the season.
He joins David Alaba, Eduardo Camavinga, and Dani Ceballos in the infirmary, bringing the number of confirmed absences for Carlo Ancelotti’s first Champions League match against Stuttgart to four. Jude Bellingham and Aurélien Tchouaméni are close to returning, while the medical review of Éder Militao confirmed he has "slight discomfort in his right leg," but no issues with the knee that was operated on.
