Barcelona Players Praise Hansi Flick
Barcelona defenders Éric García and Pau Cubarsí, who recently won the gold medal with Spain at the Paris 2024 Olympics, praised the "closeness" of their new coach, Hansi Flick, on Monday.
"We have been in constant contact with him via messages. He wished us good luck and expressed his satisfaction with what we have achieved," Cubarsí told TV3, just before the team participated in the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy, where they will face Monaco five days before the season begins.
The Estanyol native noted that "everything has happened very quickly" since he consolidated his place in the first team last season and expressed how much he "enjoys" each day as a professional.
His defensive partner during the Games and this season with Barça, Éric García, who spent last season on loan at Girona, said that the first impressions with the German coach are "very good": "Yesterday was our first day with him, and we are very excited," he explained.
Regarding Flick's playing style, which tends to involve high defensive pressure, Éric mentioned that with Xavi Hernández "it was also like that" and that, in this regard, "it will be no different."
Both players will share the dressing room with Pau Víctor and Dani Olmo, the only new signings for the club so far.
"With Pau, I played in Barça Atlètic, and he can bring a lot to our attack. With Olmo, I spent about ten days with him in the national team, and he can also offer us many positive things," Cubarsí detailed.
Éric added that the squad "will try to do their best" to "celebrate successes at the end of the season."
