Courtois Sends a Heartfelt Message to Ter Stegen Following Serious Injury
Real Madrid's goalkeeper, who recently experienced a serious knee injury himself, sent a heartfelt message to the German via social media.
Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid’s goalkeeper, knows all too well what Marc-André ter Stegen is going through. After suffering a serious injury at the start of last season that kept him off the pitch for months, Courtois understands the difficult road ahead for Barcelona’s shot-stopper.
In a show of solidarity, Courtois took to social media to send a message of support after hearing about his colleague's injury.
"I’m sorry about your injury, Ter Stegen, it hurt a lot to see you leave the field like that. I hope you recover soon and we can see you back in goal," Courtois wrote, sharing an image of the two goalkeepers embracing.
Serious Injury Confirmed
Ter Stegen faces a long recovery after Barcelona confirmed on Monday that the German goalkeeper has suffered a complete rupture of the patellar tendon in his right knee. He will be sidelined for up to eight months, a significant blow for both him and Barcelona. The injury occurred during a jump to catch a cross, leaving the club awaiting further details on his condition.
