Former Barcelona Player Mugged in the Heart of the City
Brazilian footballer Arthur Melo, a former Barcelona player, was the victim of a robbery in the center of the Catalan capital. The incident took place in a Passeig de Gràcia parking lot, where two criminals ambushed him to steal his luxury watch.
The event occurred around 4:00 PM when the current Fiorentina midfielder was about to pay for his parking ticket. In just a few seconds, one of the attackers approached him from behind and snatched the watch from his wrist before quickly fleeing toward a waiting motorcycle, where his accomplice was ready to escape.
Not the First Time Arthur Has Been Targeted
Fortunately, Arthur was not physically harmed during the robbery, though the shock led him to file a report with the authorities. This is not the first time the Brazilian has been a victim of crime in Spain. In 2019, while playing a Champions League match for Barcelona against Liverpool, his home was broken into, and valuable possessions were stolen.
Despite the unsettling event, the midfielder attended his team's training session as usual, focusing on preparing for Girona's crucial match against Alavés, a key fixture in the race for European competition spots.
Robberies targeting football players have become an increasing concern in recent years, with several high-profile athletes falling victim to similar crimes, both in public places and at their homes.
