Gavi Returns to Barcelona After Nearly 300 Days
The young midfielder completed part of the training session with the group for the first time since his serious knee injury in November 2023.
Gavi gave the great news this Thursday. The young Barcelona midfielder took a crucial step in his recovery by completing part of the training session with his teammates, something he hadn’t done since his serious knee injury in November 2023.
The atmosphere at the training ground was filled with joy and celebration, and as tradition dictates, Gavi was welcomed back with a "tunnel of slaps," a customary gesture for those returning from injury or celebrating something significant.
This moment means a lot for the Barça squad, as the return of one of their most important players is drawing closer. Gavi’s injury occurred on November 19, 2023, while playing in a match with the Spanish National Team against Georgia.
That day was devastating for the young player, as he suffered a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, along with a lateral meniscus injury.
Nearly 300 days of intense rehabilitation have passed, marked by natural ups and downs but also a great deal of patience. After undergoing surgery, Gavi set out to come back stronger than ever.
A recovery without rushing
Guided by Barcelona's medical staff and his inner circle, his recovery has been meticulous, without rushing, and respecting each stage of the process.
The club, for its part, does not want to rush his return to competition. It is expected that Gavi will be able to gradually reintegrate from October, but he is not expected to be at 100% until December. After nearly a year of inactivity, it will take time for him to regain his competitive rhythm, so his return to the team will be gradual and carefully planned.
