Hansi Flick's Renewal Is Ready: How Long He Will Stay at Barcelona
Hansi Flick's time at FC Barcelona looks set to continue. According to reports from international media, the German coach has reached a full agreement with the Catalan club to extend his contract until June 2027. Although the club has not yet made an official announcement, all indications suggest the deal is done, with only the formal signing remaining.

The renewal includes a one-year extension to his current contract, which was originally set to expire in 2026. This aligns with Flick's usual approach, as he tends to avoid long-term commitments, preferring regular evaluations. The official confirmation is expected once the season concludes—a campaign in which Barcelona has shone under his leadership, reaching the Champions League semifinals and already winning both the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
After the recent Clásico win over Real Madrid, Flick’s agent, Pini Zahavi, stated: “Hansi will stay at Barça. For how long? We'll see in a few days, but everything will be fine.” This has been interpreted as a clear sign that the German’s project with the club is far from over.
Szczęsny in Doubt, Flick in Control
While Flick's future seems secure, another case still under review is that of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, who joined the team as an emergency replacement after Marc-André ter Stegen’s long-term injury. The Polish keeper had retired to Marbella to focus on golf, but responded to Barcelona’s call last October and earned a starting spot with solid performances.
In a recent interview with Canal+ Sport Poland, Szczęsny revealed that he has received an offer to extend his stay for two more seasons, but hasn’t made a final decision yet. "We came here planning to stay for just one season, to live a dream, and then return to golf. Now I have to decide with my family what’s best,” he said.
So far, the veteran goalkeeper has played 29 matches for Barcelona, conceded 36 goals, and kept 13 clean sheets—a record that has impressed Flick, who chose him over Iñaki Peña.
With the head coach’s position settled and the foundations of the squad in place, FC Barcelona appears to be entering a new era of stability. Now, the ball is in Szczęsny’s court to decide whether his future remains on the pitch—or back on the golf course.
