Iker Casillas Urges Vinicius Jr. to Stay at Real Madrid
Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has expressed his desire for Vinicius Jr. to remain at the club, despite the massive offer the Brazilian has received from Saudi Arabia.
"As a Madridista, I’d love for Vinicius to stay at Madrid. He has had an incredible evolution since he arrived. At first, he was mocked, but now he’s one of the best players in the world. I hope he keeps going strong," Casillas said this Wednesday during a charity padel derby between Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid legends, organized by the Hexagon Cup at the Madrid Arena Pavilion.
LaLiga Is Still Up for Grabs
Regarding the LaLiga title race, where Real Madrid holds a four-point lead over Atlético and seven over Barcelona, Casillas remained cautious:
"Things change so fast. Three months ago, Madrid was ‘terrible’ and Ancelotti was a ‘disaster,’ and now everyone says he’s a genius. The key is to be ready in March, because that’s when everything is decided," he noted.
The Champions League Challenge and the Star Trio
Casillas also spoke about Real Madrid’s slim chances of making the top eight in the Champions League group stage, emphasizing that giving up is never an option, no matter how tough things look.
Lastly, he praised the Vinicius-Mbappé-Bellingham trio, considering them essential for the club’s future: "From what I see on TV, they get along really well. They are three pillars of Madridismo, and their job is to keep playing at an elite level and take Madrid to the top," he concluded.
