Real Madrid Boost: Key Player Returns from Injury
Real Madrid is gradually emptying its injury room. The latest player to recover is Eduardo Camavinga, who will be available for the match against Rayo Vallecano.
Eduardo Camavinga has rejoined full training with Real Madrid after recovering from a left hamstring injury sustained on November 27 against Liverpool. The French midfielder is set to be available for Saturday’s La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano.
Camavinga’s return ends a four-game absence, reducing Carlo Ancelotti’s injury list to five players. The remaining sidelined players include Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão—both out for the season with ACL injuries—David Alaba, who is nearing a return from a knee injury sustained on December 17, Ferland Mendy, expected back in early 2025, and Kylian Mbappé, nursing a thigh injury from Tuesday’s match against Atalanta.
Mbappé, the closest to recovery, will miss the Rayo match but is anticipated to be in contention for Real Madrid's Intercontinental Cup final on Wednesday, December 18, in Lusail (Doha, Qatar). The French star’s involvement will depend on his progress over the coming days.
With several absences, particularly in defense, Ancelotti called up six academy players for training: goalkeepers Guillermo Súnico and Sergio Mestre, defenders Lorenzo Aguado and Youssef Enríquez ‘Yusi,’ and forwards Víctor Muñoz and Gonzalo García.
The training session, conducted under rainy conditions at the Valdebebas Sports City, began with warm-ups and rondos during the 15 minutes open to the press.
