Which Players Has Barcelona Failed to Register Yet?
The Barcelona club managed to register several players with LaLiga before the start of the competition, but not all of them. Here’s who’s left out for now.
After securing the registration of Íñigo Martínez as a replacement for the long-term injured Ronald Araujo, Barcelona has also received LaLiga's approval to register midfielders Pablo Torre and Marc Casadó, as well as forward Pau Víctor. Alex Valle will play with a reserve team spot.
So, all of them will be available for this Saturday's match at Mestalla (3:30 PM ET).
Pablo Torre has returned to Barcelona after a year on loan at Girona, and under the new coach, Hansi Flick, he has played a prominent role during the preseason.
The same goes for Marc Casadó, who had a clause in his contract ensuring he would be part of the first team this season, and he has been one of the standout players during the U.S. tour.
Pau Víctor will wear the number 18 jersey. His registration was more complicated because he arrived through a transfer ($2.75 million plus add-ons) from Girona, which counted differently from the others.
Pending registration is Dani Olmo, whom Barcelona seems unlikely to register at the moment, especially after Hansi Flick’s comments.
Flick on Dani Olmo
The German coach spoke at a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga debut against Valencia this Saturday. One of the key topics was the club’s latest signing, Dani Olmo.
Flick mentioned that he has 22 or 23 players, all with options, except for Dani Olmo, who "has had few training sessions" and first "needs to train to be able to help us."
For now, the coach cannot count on Olmo. We'll have to see when Barcelona can register him, so that when he is physically ready, they can make use of his quality, for which the club paid $60 million to RB Leipzig.
