Speculation surrounding Real Madrid's next manager has come to an end.
Florentino Pérez confirmed through a campaign video that José Mourinho will become the club's next head coach if he remains president following the upcoming election.
The announcement opens the door for a highly anticipated return to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Mourinho prepares for a second spell at Real Madrid
Following his time with Benfica, Mourinho is now set to begin a second chapter with Real Madrid.
In a video posted on Florentino Pérez's official account with the slogan "More history to make," the Portuguese coach appears wearing a Real Madrid shirt and simply answers: "Yes."
The video then concludes with a call for supporters to vote for Florentino Pérez.
The unfinished Champions League mission
During his first spell in Madrid between 2010 and 2013, Mourinho won one LaLiga title, one Copa del Rey and one Spanish Super Cup.
He also led Real Madrid to the historic 100-point league campaign.
However, the Champions League remained the major trophy that escaped him during that period, making it one of the biggest objectives should he return.

Ending the trophy drought
A second Mourinho era would also come with the challenge of ending Real Madrid's two-season wait for major silverware.
The prospect of seeing "The Special One" back at the Bernabéu would mark the beginning of another fascinating chapter in the club's history.
