Lautaro Martínez Appears on Barcelona’s Radar
FC Barcelona continues to search for a striker, and although Julián Álvarez remains one of the Catalan club’s major targets, the enormous difficulty of reaching an agreement with Atlético de Madrid means other options have to remain on the table.
And one of them could be Lautaro Martínez.
In recent hours, reports from Spain have once again placed the Inter Milan striker on Barcelona’s radar as a possible alternative if the club is ultimately unable to complete a move for La Araña.
For now, however, suggesting that advanced negotiations are underway for El Toro would be going too far.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there is a sense of calm both at Inter and within Lautaro’s camp, with no indication that the Italian club is preparing for the departure of one of its most important players.
Julián Remains the Main Target
Lautaro’s name has emerged precisely at a time when a potential deal for Julián Álvarez continues to face major obstacles.
As we previously reported, Barcelona remains attentive to what happens when the striker returns to Atlético de Madrid and has the opportunity to discuss his future directly.
Atlético’s position, so far, has been very clear.
Diego Simeone recently stated that he is delighted to have Julián in his squad, while Miguel Ángel Gil Marín has publicly insisted that the club has no intention of easily parting ways with the Argentine.
That puts Barcelona in a difficult position.
As long as Atlético refuses to listen to offers, there is practically no negotiation that can begin. Much will depend on the position Julián Álvarez himself takes once he returns to work with Simeone’s team.
That is why the Catalan club also needs to consider other scenarios.
Lautaro Appears on the Radar
That is where Lautaro Martínez enters the picture.
The Inter striker would reportedly be one of the names under consideration at Barcelona if a move for La Araña becomes definitively blocked.
There is also one detail that has fueled the speculation.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Deco did hold a meeting with Alejandro Camaño, Lautaro Martínez’s agent. However, that meeting alone does not mean negotiations have begun to sign the Argentine.
Camaño represents and acts as an intermediary for several players, so there is caution in Italy regarding the true significance of that conversation.
So far, there is also no indication that Inter has placed El Toro on the market.

A Very Difficult Deal
Even if Barcelona decided to make a serious move for Lautaro, completing a deal would not be easy.
The Argentine is one of Inter’s biggest stars, carries enormous weight inside the dressing room, and has established himself as one of the Milan club’s main attacking references.
His profile, however, perfectly explains why he could be attractive to Barcelona.
Lautaro offers goals, aggressive pressing, movement, and an enormous ability to compete inside the penalty area. He can also link up outside the box and contribute to attacks in which the striker needs to be constantly involved in the build-up.
He also has plenty of experience at the highest level in Europe and would arrive as a player capable of immediately taking on an important role.
But having his name mentioned as an alternative is one thing. An actual transfer operation is something very different.
Barcelona Needs to Have Alternatives
Barcelona’s transfer plans could largely depend on what happens with Julián Álvarez.
If the Argentine manages to open the door to negotiations over a departure from Atlético de Madrid, the situation could change quickly. If the Rojiblancos maintain their position and a deal becomes impossible, Barça will have to look elsewhere.
And that is where the name Lautaro Martínez begins to emerge.
For now, there is a sense of calm in Milan, and there are no advanced negotiations regarding his departure from Inter.
The situation, therefore, still has Julián Álvarez as one of Barcelona’s main targets, while El Toro appears as an alternative worth considering if Atlético’s door ultimately closes for good.
Lautaro Martínez is once again being linked with Barcelona, but there is still a very long way to go between appearing on the list and becoming a genuine transfer option.
