Sergio Ramos Scores His Second Goal in Mexico
Spanish defender Sergio Ramos once again made his mark in Mexican soccer, scoring his second goal in Liga MX to secure a 1-1 draw for Monterrey against Cruz Azul in Matchday 11 of the Clausura tournament.
A Crucial Goal in a Tough Match
At 38 years old, Sergio Ramos put the visitors ahead in the 12th minute with a precise header from a corner kick. However, the lead was short-lived, as Uruguayan Ignacio Rivero equalized in the 21st minute with a header of his own, following an assist from Polish midfielder Mateusz Bogusz.
The match became even more challenging for the home team when Argentine defender Gonzalo Piovi received a red card, leaving Cruz Azul with 10 men. Despite the numerical advantage, Monterrey couldn’t capitalize, and the score remained unchanged.
With this result, Cruz Azul climbed to fifth place in the standings with 19 points, while Monterrey sits in ninth with 16 points.
Draw at Estadio Hidalgo
Elsewhere, Mazatlán and Pachuca played to a 1-1 draw at Estadio Hidalgo. Omar Moreno opened the scoring for the visitors, but Brazilian forward John Kennedy netted the equalizer, bringing his tally to eight goals in the tournament. He now stands alone as the league’s second-highest scorer, trailing only Colombian striker Díber Cambindo, who leads the scoring charts with 10 goals.
