Josh Wilson Esbrand Delivers Reims a Victory
A stunning goal by Englishman Josh Wilson Esbrand, scored twenty minutes after stepping onto the pitch, awakened Reims this Saturday, as they secured a 1-0 victory over Lorient in the tenth round of the French Ligue 1.
Belgian coach William Still's team bounced back with a win after their previous defeat to Monaco and a draw in the last match against Toulouse.
Reims clinched victory at the Auguste-Delaune stadium with six minutes left on the clock. Wilson Esbrand, who came on in the 65th minute to replace Belgian Thibaut De Smet, played a one-two with Danish player Mohammed Daramy and, from the corner of the box, sent a precise and well-placed shot into the top corner, beyond the reach of Swiss goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo.
This victory solidifies Reims in fourth place, just one point behind Paris Saint-Germain in third and Monaco in second, who still have to play their matches for the round. They are five points behind the league leader, Nice, who won against Clermont on Friday.
