Morata’s First Words as a New Galatasaray Player
Álvaro Morata expressed that he was "very happy" after signing with Galatasaray, one of the most successful clubs in Turkey. The Spanish striker arrived in Istanbul following a "difficult process," as reported by the club in an official statement.
A Transfer Full of Effort
"I’m very happy. Great efforts were made to get me here," said Morata upon landing at Atatürk Airport in Istanbul, an old airfield now used only for private planes. The forward also thanked the club and his agent George Gardi, who made the deal possible after a complicated transfer process from Milan.
The Spanish player emphasized that his only reason for moving to Turkey was to play for Galatasaray. He also expressed excitement about wearing the club’s jersey and sharing moments of pride with the team’s fans. He recalled that during his visit to the Galatasaray Stadium in Istanbul, he felt the passion and unique character of the Turkish supporters, which motivated him even more to join them.
According to NTV, the deal between Morata and Galatasaray is a 1.5-year loan with an option to buy for 8 million euros. Meanwhile, Sabah newspaper reports that the total price of the deal could reach 10 million euros, adding that the player will earn 3 million euros until the end of the season.
A Career Full of Success
Throughout his career, Morata has been a key player for the Spanish national team, with which he won the Euro Cup and the Nations League. He has also played for some of Europe’s top clubs, including Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea, and Milan, winning major titles, including two Champions Leagues (2014 and 2017) and a Club World Cup (2016) with Real Madrid.
The arrival of Morata at Galatasaray has generated great expectations among Turkish fans, who are eager to see the 32-year-old striker make an impact in the Turkish Super League, where the club currently sits at the top of the standings, 16 points ahead of their main rival, Fenerbahçe.
