Ancelotti Fears the Worst for Real Madrid's Title Chances
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed serious concerns about his team’s defensive issues, saying it's “normal to be worried” after back-to-back losses to Barcelona (0-4) and AC Milan (1-3). He admitted that “competing for titles at the end of the season will be tough like this.”
“The locker room is healthy. Now, there’ll be plenty of criticism about attitude, training… We have to accept what people say and face the reality: right now, we’re not performing well. It’ll be very hard to make it to the end of the season like this; we need to fix things. I said it from day one this season: we need to defend better—that’s the key,” Ancelotti said in the press conference.
He acknowledged that they might need to seek new solutions. “I need to think about making the team more balanced and solid. I won’t go overboard, but maybe tweak some tactical details to improve things. This is a tactical issue, not a problem with the players,” he added.
“The reality on the pitch is that we’re missing something. The team isn’t showing its best, especially in the last two games. It’s normal to be worried; we’re in for some long nights. We have to make improvements and find the solidity we’ve had for so long but now lack.”
Ancelotti pointed out that they’ve conceded nine goals in their last three games, saying, “That’s far too much for a team that has built its strength on solidity.”
He also emphasized the defensive problems, noting, “We’ve had plenty of offensive opportunities, but our finishing could improve. The real issue we must fix is how easily opponents get through our defense,” he analyzed.
