Jackson's struggling St Pauli falls to Gladbach
Borussia Moenchengladbach secured a fourth straight home victory with a 2-0 Bundesliga win against St Pauli, Australia star Jackson Irvine's side not finding life any easier since being promoted to Germany's top flight.
Gladbach started brightly were ahead in the 13th minute when Alassane Plea nodded home from close range, netting his 50th Bundesliga goal.
The Foals continued to dominate having gone in front, and just before half-time they doubled their lead when Tim Kleindienst chipped the ball over Pauli goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj.
Irvine's side looked a little better in the second half, with more attacking intent. Morgan Guilavogui was close to pulling one back for the visitors, but his header on 75 minutes clipped the crossbar with Gladbach keeper Moritz Nicolas beaten.
Gladbach's defence held firm, leaving Pauli to rue a second straight defeat. It sits 16th on the table, the Bundesliga's relegation play-off spot, while Gladbach is in sixth, looking to maintain a challenge for Europe next season.
